Joyce Iwaszko is an artist and lecturer in North Staffordshire and is studio manager at AirSpace where she has been a studio member since 2012.
Joyce’s work includes the use of unconventional materials to create unique contemporary works, incorporating ceramic pigments, smalt, clay and cement, as well as transfer print/lithographs and paint. She uses colour, scale, pattern and texture, and aims to bring together histories and a sense of place. Joyce has exhibited locally and nationally in solo and group shows, where work has included large scale painting installations, site related and commissioned work. She is passionate about highlighting the rich heritage of Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.
Recent work includes Middleport Pottery Wall Paintings, 2014, Princes Regeneration Trust commission, Journeys, Pathways and Trackplans, 2014 funded by the Arts Council, England, Smalt Blue, 2015, solo exhibition supported by the PRT and Assemblage 1 & 2, 2015, held at AirSpace and the historic Spode Site.
Joyce’s interests include colour, texture, layers, pigment, heritage, contemporary, metaphor, trace and transience.
